My name is Nobuyoshi Luke Fuzikawa. I was born in southwestern Japan
in Shikoku, the smallest of Japan's four main islands. Because
the island is so small, many of Japan's traditional customs continue
to thrive there. Growing up, I had many amazing opportunities to learn
about and experience my country's rich culture.
For over a decade, I worked as a scientist and earned a PhD degree in Biochemistry.
Some of my friends still call me a doctor - but my true desire has always
been to experience the world, different cultures and people.
A few years ago, I had a chance to backpack in South East Asia for
six months. As I met local people, witnessing their joys and challenges
firsthand, I realized more than ever how interesting
and awesome this world really is. Though I still love the field
of science, I am now devoted to capturing the most precious
moments of people's lives through the lens... telling their stories
with my camera.
Now I'm living in Chicago and working as a freelance photographer with
such clients as WTTW-TV, Oxford Review, Forbes, Asahi Shimbun,
Chikyu no Arukikata, Japan Airlines, All Nippon Airlines, JTB, Kintetsu
and City of Osaka, City of Chicago. But my favorite work includes
the more than one hundred weddings I have photographed, as well as
the candid children's photos I have taken. As I capture these moments,
I grow to love my work more and more - and would love to help tell
your story with my camera.
If you have any
questions, please feel free to contact me. I am looking forward to hearing from
you.
